Focus. Return. Refocus. Plan.
September was pretty much a wash for us. It was a strange month here as one by one families began to return home from evacuating. Our K3 event was canceled and it was time to regroup. Our church sustained some minor damage with a tree falling on our property and our siding ripped up a bit but we escaped any significant damage. We unpacked and reoccupied our premises and began to access where we were and what we needed to do.
Many areas were without full utility services for quite some time and it wasn’t until October that we had time to reassess our work and ministry efforts. We placed many phone calls to various groups and then got back to the plow.
One thing became clear to us: We had to refocus and adjust to our new circumstance. We had planned to use K3 as our launch to the area. We had planned to have K3 be our major fund raiser and announcement to all that our benevolence work was here to stay and to highlight about twelve other organizations and good works in the area.
As a result, we began to plan out our steps for 2009 with an even greater understanding that we are not in control of this ministry, He is. And we cautiously look to the future as we plan out this generational outpost in our city.
