Short Term Missions
COME SERVE WITH US. If you are an individual or a church or a family, schedule a trip to serve along side of us and be a part of what God is doing here in our community. Whether you can swing a hammer, donate some time at our Relief Center, or participate in our neighborhood bible studies; we can use your help.
There are many areas of service and because of our unique role in the post-Katrina landscape, needs change from month to month. One such example is our People in Need program where groups and families can adopt specific projects prior to coming here to work. This allows volunteers and donors the opportunity to become acquainted with the project and people before physically lending a hand. Case in point – The Haglers.
Help the Haglers
Shawn and Carla Hagler have been displaced from the their pre-Katrina home for a little over four years. Their house was declared by FEMA to be 100% destroyed and they have been living in a portable trailer in the front parking lot of Sovereign Grace Fellowship all this time. To make matters worse, Carla has Friedreich’s Ataxia and is permanently disabled. This added many more layers of bureaucratic red-tape to an already stressful recovery.
While the majority of their new home has been built, there are still a few critical things to complete, including satisfying drainage requirements and the pouring of their concrete driveway, essential for Carla’s wheelchair accessibility.
