Reclamation Worksite

zelda-house-reclaimPart of our ministry in the greater New Orleans area involves not only helping the disadvantaged and underprivileged rebuild and maintain their homes and properties, but also incorporates reclamation. Reusing old doors and beams or porch posts and fencing is an important part of our work.

The Lord commanded in Genesis 1:28 for us to “be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” This mandate is not only a cultural mandate to build efficient and functioning towns and cities, but it is the root of all conservation and true environmentalism. We must be good stewards of what God has provided for us.

Reclamation ministry is one such way to accomplish this mandate by recycling what zelda-window-1would otherwise be considered useless debris. We were given access to this home owned by a friend of ours. It was built in the 1930s in Old Towne, Slidell.

We have taken out fencing, lumber, windows, doors, and posts and will reuse them in other projects.
