We Welcome Idaho and Kansas Crews!
As spring arrives, so does spring break for many young people. And with spring break comes many volunteers willing to work on their week off! This past weekend we welcomed two crews: one from Idaho with a group of college students from the University of Idaho, and the other from Kansas, hailing from Advent Lutheran church in Olathe, Kansas.
After their arrival this past weekend, it was clear to us here at Homeland Missions that this was going to be a good week! All the crew members have a great attitude and are ready and willing to work wherever they are needed!
The weather forecast is looks wonderful for the week, and so far, we’ve started off on the right foot!
Today was very productive for all three job sites we had lined up. At Mr. Dave Arnaud’s property the workers were able to till the ground and mulch for his vegetable garden, complete a platform deck and miscellaneous construction for one of his sheds, and begin construction for a set of stairs leading up to the back of his house.
At Pastor Eddie Exposito’s house, the workers were able to clear more brush and wood piles and take down a few dead trees ready to fall. They were also able to dismantle a neighbor’s fence which has been donated to the church to fence off our property.
Finally, at Ms. Alice’s log cabin, crew members accomplished a great deal completing the final touches of caulking inside the house, taking down a large amount of overgrown brush in the yard, burning many of the brush piles that have accumulated over the months, and prepping the exterior of the house for painting.
We look forward to tomorrow and the rest of the week with this hardworking group of volunteers!
