Our Mission

We exist to compassionately provide for the immediate needs of the disadvantaged and impoverished and to train others to do the same.

auntearlinehoumaWhether widowed, disabled, elderly, a single parent or challenged by other extraordinary needs, it is our desire to be a gracious place to land in an all-too-often uncompassionate world. Through being interconnected with over fifty other community ministries and charitable organizations in the Greater New Orleans area, we seek to:

Train

  • Yearling Program – A year-long internship in urban ministry and renewal strategies featuring service through on-site living.
  • The Master’s Workshop – Training in construction-related work in a real-time context of urban ministry.
  • Church consultations – Training for your church or organization in mercy ministry and community relief work through one-on-one visits and seminar presentations.
  • Networking – Creation of a regional Homeland Missions network.

Serve

  • Necessities – Immediate aid through food and clothes distribution.
  • Repairs – Volunteer labor to repair homes that have either fallen into disrepair or been damaged by natural disasters and/or accidents.
  • Resources – Connects our neighbors with the right community relief resources
  • Relief Center – An opportunity for local churches and individuals to volunteer and serve their community.
  • Short-term missions – An alternative short-term missions trip destination for churches and individuals.

Renew

  • Retreats – An alternative work-retreat option for churches and individuals, such as our Leading as Men week.
  • Stewardship – Identifying and implementing environmentally sound and responsible materials and technologies in our restoration efforts.
  • Reclamation – Seeking out and utilizing donation and reclamation partnerships and/or donors for provisional needs and reuse.
  • Re-education – Introducing creative ways to provide and encourage sustainable living in our community through re-education and reuse such as urban gardening techniques.
