Short-Term Missions

group picUrban relief work poses many challenges as each city’s landscape varies from historic and modern to more rural and metropolitan.  Every city has a unique demographic. Each city has its own politic.  Each region has a specific need.

In the Greater New Orleans area, we sit in an eclectic base of all of the above.  Slidell was established as a railroad town in the late 1800’s and served as a gateway hub for importing goods and materials to a widely expanding port city on the Mississippi River.  Enjoying a more rural and small-town feel, Slidell is positioned perfectly between the Big Easy and the hook of the Gulf Coast.

This dense cultural heritage provides us with an interesting ‘gumbo’ in which to serve. Still in a long-term recovery stage from Katrina, the citizens of this area continue to have great need of assistance and aid not to mention the regular non-storm related events common to any and all urban centers.
